If you fired a bunch of full power slugs or 3-inch buckshot, some bruising is to be expected regardless of what butt pad is used. A recoil damper is what's called for if you're going to shoot a lot of heavy loads on a shotgun as light as the KS7. Of course, a bunch of heavy rounds being fired is unlikely in a gunfight.

The ksg/7 is going to be shorter overall than an SBS shockwave and have a high capacity. But I've seen way more failures and issues from the KS7 than the ksg, and more from the ksg than shockwaves. Kel-Tec KS7, same old KSG problems. Got a new Kel-Tec KS7 from a post on r/gundeals and took it out to shoot last night. It looked to me like they had solved a lot of the problems of the KSG and at a much lower price point ($495). They didn’t. I’m not even posting a picture because I am so irritated. The KSG would typically cost close to a thousand bucks, but the KS7 is about half that. The KelTec KS7 holds seven rounds of 2.75-inch shells and can chamber 3-inch shells as well. That’s not a bad deal for such a small and lightweight shotgun. The KS7 is a little odd but looks to be a very effective shotgun, or at least it could be.Too bad it's right handed only. I think the KS7's (and the KSG) Achilles's heel is its ambidextrous-ness. Kel-Tec has not been able to get the dual load/downward ejection mechanism to work consistently across the board.
